Koren slept fitfully that night. His mind was wracked with nightmares, especially a dream of fighting the horrible shark-hybrid he had seen earlier. In his dream, he was flying away, but suddenly the water beneath him began to rise . . . faster than he could ever come . . . the water engulfed him, and then . . . Koren woke up, in a cold sweat. Panting for breath, he looked around, quietly, and then stole back to sleep.
